HEALTH ALERT: Missouri is seeing a significant and early increase in pediatric RSV activity in the last few weeks, reaching a 16% positivity rate in October. In certain areas of the state, hospitals are reporting hospitalization and ICU admissions due to RSV are far above where we were during the previous 4 years.
Influenza activity is also increasing early with some of the highest numbers we’ve seen in recent years, affecting children under the age of 4 at a high rate. Most communities are seeing low COVID-19 transmission at this time; however, the St. Louis and Northwest regions have been elevated from low to medium transmission.
How can you help?- Vaccination- Stay home if you are sick- Wash hands- Cover when sneezing or coughing- Avoid close contact like kissing
If you suspect your child has RSV, influenza or COVID-19, the best place to get tested is at your pediatrician’s office, doctor office or urgent care.
